Group Manager Financial Accounting & Reporting

We need an effective leader for a committed group of people to help develop and bring together financial accounting, reporting and control. This strong finance leader will deliver value to both WEL Networks and Ultrafast Fibre, through a WEL Group shared service.

WEL Group incorporates both WEL Networks and Ultrafast Fibre. WEL Networks has been providing a highly reliable electricity supply to the Waikato for 100 years. Playing an essential role in the region’s development by delivering innovative energy solutions, which enables our communities to thrive and keep the lights on 24/7. Ultrafast Fibre Ltd is responsible for the design, implementation and operation of high speed broadband services across the central North Island.  Our Hamilton based team is the hub of the fastest growing Ultra-fast Broadband network in the country as we move ahead with our UFB2 Build Programme. WEL Group are continuously identifying and investing in new technologies that will modernise our network and future-proof our region.

Reporting to the Group Chief Financial Officer, this role will take financial accounting and reporting functions to the next level for WEL Group.

Providing expertise to support the Group CFO, and Chief Executives for both WEL Networks and Ultrafast Fibre, this role will manage and improve the financial policies, controls, procedures and systems, always keeping ahead of trends, opportunities, standards and rules.

Utilising your strong relationship building skills you will ensure you understand the business needs and provide financial information in the most efficient and effective way.


  • Lead the seamless operation of financial accounting services across the WEL Group

  • Ensuring key compliance requirements are implemented effectively and in a timely manner

  • Enhance effective decision making that drives performance for both companies by providing relevant and timely financial reporting

  • Take a leadership role for all financial reporting across WEL Group, lifting capability and understanding with customers and stakeholders

  • Ensure the team is well supported and developed to continually perform at a high level of expertise
